10 Facts About The Master


1) When the Master first appeared in January 1971, he was played by Roger Delgado.
2) The first episode the Master appeared in was the, 'Terror of the Autons'.
3) The Master has been portrayed by 7 chararcters; Roger Delgado, Peter Pratt, Geoffrey Beevers, Anthony Ainley, Eric Roberts, Derek Jacobi, John Simm.
4) The Master's title was conferred by an academic degree, like the Doctor.
5) At the age of eight the Master was taken beofre a gap in time and space, in which it is possible to see the entire vortex. The Doctor states that looking into the time vortex causes some to be inspired, some to run away (which the Doctor did), and others to go mad; it is implied that the latter is what happened to the Master.
6) The Master's main aim is to control the universe, which he describes as, "becoming the Master of all matter."
7) The Master's most distinctive ability is that of hypnotising people by fixing them with an intense stare, often accompanied by the phrase, "I am the Master, and you will obey me."
8) In his three seasons beginning with Terror of the Autons, the Master (as played by Delgado) appeared in eight out of the fifteen serials.
9) Delgado's last on-screen appearance as the Master was in Frontier in Space, where he is working alongside the Daleks and the Ogrons to provoke a war between the Human and Draconian Empires.
10) In the original Doctor Who series, the Master's various TARDISes have appeared as many things, including a horsebox, a fir tree, a computer bank, a grandfather clock, a fluted architectural column, an iron maiden, a fireplace, and a Triangular column.
