David Tennant, who will be leaving as the Doctor at the end of this year, has been tipped to snatch the role of Bilbo Baggins from a long list of actors. The film, 'The Hobbit' is based on Tolkein's book prequel to The Lord of The Rings series. The list Tennant is leading includes the likes of James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe.Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times said, "I think Tennant would be exceptional in the role."
Bilbo Baggins was portrayed by Sir Ian Holme, but Baggins is much younger in 'The Hobbit' around 50. Currently Tennant is filiming St. Trinian's and will be appearing at the comic con in the US next week.
